What does Guide-On-Board mean?
A Guide-On-Board tour means that the tour guide will ride in your vehicle (car/van/bus) to direct you along the tour route. This give you more control as to how much information you wish to receive for each point of interest. While the guide is not driving your vehicle, however, you may request the guide to drive you car (at no extra cost), but it’s NOT required.
No one else will be in your vehicle, just the guide and anyone with you.
Why should I consider the Guide-On-Board?
- For more than one person, it’s economical, we charge per vehicle instead of per person.
- Ideal for anyone with limited mobility.
- Good option for families with infants/toddlers.
- Your pet can tour with you (at no extra charge).
- You set the pace of the tour.
- Your guide will design the tour based on your tour expectations and interests.
- You set the temperature of the vehicle, not someone else.
- You can enjoy the tour in the comforts of your vehicle; whether it’s rain, shine, hot or cold.
How is the pricing for Guide On Board set up?
The pricing is mostly per vehicle based on the number of people in the vehicle. Instead of price per person, it’s basically a price for the whole group.
The Foodie Tours are priced per person.
Do I need to purchase my tickets in advance?
Please pay for your tour in advance.
Most tours allow bookings up to one hour before the start time. Foodie Tours and Shuttle Tours require a 24-hour minimum advanced booking. You can pay for tour with Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Discover, or PayPal. Schools and Government entities can pay by check, if needed, please call to arrange.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable.
Exchange requests made more than 24 hours before the tour start time, or 48 for Shuttle and Foodie tours, can be rescheduled.
Date of the reschedule must be within 1 year of original tour date. Exchanges can be made if the postponement is due to inclement weather, See “What about inclement weather?”
What about inclement weather?
A little rain doesn’t slow us down. Our tours are rain or shine, hot or cold events, except under warnings. On walking tours, if there is lightning, the tour is delayed, or postponed, to a later time (either same day or another date).
Be sure to check the forecast and dress appropriately.
Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Tornado Warnings
Vicinity Tours postpones a tour when:
The National Weather Service issues a Thunderstorm, or a Tornado Warning for the county where the tour would be conducted, and during the time slotted for the tour.
Vicinity Tours will reschedule the tour for a later time, on the same day, if slots are available, and if the forecast shows better conditions. Otherwise, you may select a later date.
What is Fare Harbor?
Vicinity Tours’ uses Fare Harbor as the online booking system. Rezdy handles our booking calendar, too. Stripe is Vicinity Tours’ payment processor. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We only accept checks from government entities and approved businesses.
Are the tours accessible for persons with physical disabilities, or with limited mobility?
The tours with the tour guide on board your vehicle will be the most accessible way to enjoy all of our tour options. It will also offer the most opportunities to see more than the walking tours.
On tours with the tour guide in your vehicle, you can decide whether (or not) to step out at desingated locations. The designated locations allow a better view of the scenery, and are accessible for wheelchairs and walkers.
We do have a wheelchair available, if needed, for walking tours. Please request when reserving your tour.
The walking tour routes are mostly sidewalks and asphalt along flat grounds, thus it’s safe for wheelchair and walkers.
